2003 Washington Merlot

2003 is considered to be one of the finest vintages in recent memory in Washington State. A hot summer, followed by a moderate fall, produced grapes of extraordinarily intense flavors and balance.

Alder Creek Vineyard is located in Horse Heaven Hills, the newest appellation in Washington State, with approximately 6,000 acres currently planted. Horse Heaven Hills receives up to 30 percent more wind than other Columbia Valley regions. The air currents serve to keep temperatures moderated throughout the growing season resulting in ideal grape maturity at harvest.

The 2003 Merlot is made entirely from free run juice, resulting in very soft, stylish and balanced wine. Abundant berry fruit is evident throughout the front, middle and end palates.
